　　Helio Loureiro, who has cooked for the team for eight years, told Portuguese daily newspaper 24Horas there is nothing like the soup "to give strength and revive family memories."

　　"We are going to give them a good chicken soup. We are going to give them what they need physically but also what they need spiritually. It is a dish that warms and comforts," he added.

　　While many other national team chefs rule out alcohol completely for their players, Loureiro said there would be room at the table for Portuguese wines.

　　"Only on game days will they not drink it. Wine is seen as a food. Consumed moderately it is a rich and good food which should be used not to kill thirst but to kill desire," he told the newspaper.

　　The World Cup runs from June 9 until July 9. Portugal are in Group D along with Angola, Iran and Mexico. The country kicks off its campaign against Angola on June 11.
